education community, the NORDUnet transcription service represents a strategic capability that complements the existing NORDUnet shared services ecosystem, supported by NORDUnet and delivered through the national research and education networks.<br \/>As Nordic institutions increasingly explore AI-enabled workflows, the NORDUnet Media Transcription Service stands out as a Nordic on-premise alternative:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a sovereign, in-region alternative to commercial cloud speech-recognition services<\/li>\n<li>a model for compliant, privacy-preserving AI operations aligned with Nordic data-protection priorities<\/li>\n<li>a building block for cross-Nordic interoperability, where similar AI-assisted services may evolve across Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For NORDUnet, this strengthens the collective Nordic value proposition: secure digital research services, developed regionally but sharable, scalable, and potentially harmonised across borders.<\/p>\n<p>The service was developed as a join effort by Sunet, CSC and NORDUnet.<\/p>\n<h4><br \/>Service description:<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-cover is-light\"><span aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-cover__background has-background-dim-100 has-background-dim\" style=\"background-color:#ddeaf6\"><\/span><div class=\"wp-block-cover__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-cover-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-align-left has-medium-font-size\" id=\"h-privacy-by-design\"><strong>Privacy by design<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Login and AAI is using the orgnisation Single Sign On (SSO) solution<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each user has a personal encryption key to ensure privacy of content<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01KG4K2TNSMHAXAPERX8DZ6V0N\"><strong>Primary Use Cases<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>NORDUnet Media Transcription Service is designed to support a broad range of sector-specific scenarios, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>research interview material<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>lectures and academic presentations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>internal training and compliance content<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>subtitles and accessibility support for educational media<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01KG4K307DYV2TDHHEAV09656M\"><strong>Access Channels<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>The stand-alone service is available through two main access paths:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h_01KG4K368HGSCH42RF88967N1A\"><strong>Web interface<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Supports file upload and automated transcription, including an admin interface for user management and usage reporting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01KG4K3A7V8F9HZGAFP0Q2AX83\"><strong>Public API<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Allows connected organizations to build custom integrations or automate internal workflows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h_01KG4K3FYFKHAYFZ2CK1A0WTR0\"><strong>System Architecture and Workflow<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>NORDUnet Media Transcription Service is built as an automated processing pipeline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pre-processing of audio\/video (noise reduction, normalisation, segmentation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AI-based transcription using the Open AI Whisper model, enhanced with national language models.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Optional speaker diarisation<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Manual post-editing directly in the web interface<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Export in multiple formats<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>The service supports multiple languages and will expands language coverage progressively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h_01KG4K3MGXFA8SXNVQVYN7PE5T\"><strong>Core features available:<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>selectable transcription modes (faster vs. higher accuracy)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>automatic speaker change detection (diarisation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>verbatim or cleaned-up transcript output<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>export options in multiple formats:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Subtitles:\u00a0<em>.srt<\/em>,\u00a0<em>.vtt<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full-text:\u00a0<em>.rtf<\/em>,\u00a0<em>.txt<\/em>,\u00a0<em>.csv<\/em>,\u00a0<em>.tsv<\/em>,\u00a0<em>.json<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Additional
